For a client in the petrochemical industry, KTS was requested as project manager for the construction of a screw conveyor equipped with a steam jacket, built by Klinkenberg. The steam jacket heats the conveyor wall, keeping the product at temperature and flowing well during transport. Essential for processes where the medium solidifies upon cooling or becomes too viscous.
The design of the screw conveyor is owned by the end customer. KTS was engaged to manage the construction process and ensure that all work was completed within the set planning, quality requirements and budget agreements.
A screw conveyor with steam jacket is a double-walled transport system where steam is directed through the jacket around the trough. This keeps the transported product at the desired process temperature, keeping it liquid and workable. This technique is widely used in the petrochemical industry for transporting products that solidify or become too viscous at lower temperatures.
